The Fourth of July is coming up and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with weed and good friends. Maybe a barbecue and some grilling, too? Head on over to Civic Days 

One of the city’s oldest and longest 4th of July traditions is Civic Days, a lively celebration of Independence Day filled with activities and adventures for everyone. 

The best part? It’s not just one day. The fireworks show takes place on Sunday the 3rd from 10-10:30 pm. Launched from Rollstone Hill, this free and open to the public event offers viewing locations from all around the city, with popular hangouts at Riverfront Park and the Upper Common.

Of course, celebrating with fireworks the day before the 4th is fun, but what’s there to do on actual Independence Day? Dont fret. The 4th of July Parade will start at 10 am on Independence Day, beginning at Summer Street and continuing onto the Upper Common. 

Keep in mind that this is a family-friendly event. Use your best judgment when attending and remember that public cannabis consumption is never allowed. 

Head into Boston 

If you’re looking for more to do this 4th of July, don’t sleep on Boston. Head to the big city for even more celebrations and opportunities this holiday. 

Boston Harborfest takes place July 1 – 4th and includes historical re-enactments, live music, parades, and a fireworks display over the harbor on the 2nd. 

And then there’s the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on the 4th, which starts at 7 pm. Enjoy the Chakha Khan’s performance as well as the Boston Pops orchestra alongside the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes and Drums, and more. And of course, plenty of fireworks to light up the sky. 

After three years of not being able to do this show, anticipation is high. And if you play your cards right, you will be too.

Keep it lowkey with some friends at home 

If you don’t want to visit Civic Days or take a trip to Boston, you can still celebrate Independence Day in style. Our recommendation? Gather some friends, find a yard, and get to grilling and chilling.

The last thing the hospitals need this holiday is another person coming in with an entirely preventable injury.

So have fun, but don’t let it get too out of hand. If you’re going to be somewhere away from home and partying hard, look for accomodations to stay the night wherever you are and avoid the roads.
